Radio personality Tom London Holmes has shared the bad news of his health diagnosis, which he claims could force him to possibly return to the Helen Joseph Hospital.
The former Cape Talk and 702 presenter has shared his horrific public hospital ordeal in various social media clips over the weekend.
After the videos went viral, Tom received a substantial sum of donations from the public, which helped him seek treatment at a private healthcare facility.
TOM LONDON SHARES ‘TERRIFYING’ HEALTH UPDATE
In Facebook Live on Monday, 9 September, Tom London shared feedback from his consultation with a pulmonologist at Sandonton’s Morningside Clinic.
According to Tom, he had a life-threatening lung infection, which required thoracic surgery to drain the fluid that had accumulated in his chest.
However, the surgery, without medical aid, would cost more than half a million.
He said: “My only way to survive is to go into theatre and have my chest cut open. I’m petrified because it means I will go on a ventilator.
“I don’t have R600 000. I have to go back to a state hospital to have this done. I’m devastated”.
Tom added that the likelihood was that he could end up returning to Helen Joseph Hospital, where he had previously spent 14 days in treatment.
Tom was hoping to be admitted into the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital instead.
He continued, “I’m going to need you to pray for me, watch over me, and help me survive this.”

“I’ve decided I’m not going back to Helen Joseph Hospital. No way!” he added.
A backabuddy page has been opened for me so international donations can come in. I’ve decided I’m NOT going back to Helen Joseph. No ways!

In a clip titled “Welcome to the Helen Joseph Hospital,” Tom revealed that he had been subjected to “uncaring staff” who had “mistreated” him.

WATCH TILL THE END!Posted by Tom London on Friday 6 September 2024
Tom London revealed that he had laid in his own faeces and slept without a pillow or blanket for several days. He also had to watch another patient die in front of him in his hospital room.
Tom claimed that the patient’s body remained in the room for four hours, covered in flies, before the mortuary collected it.
He said: “The doctors who run about here treat the patients like cockroaches.”
He also claimed that doctors had laughed and joked about “cars, bonuses and food” while he lay in desperation.
