Siyasanga Papu (born 14 July 1986 in East London) is a South African actress. She is known to many television viewers for playing the role of Nomathemba on The Herd, a supernatural drama series.

She has appeared in several TV series in the country and is making a name for herself in the entertainment industry.

Siyasanga’s date of birth is on July 14, 1986, and the place of birth is in East London, but she resides in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. She has been a professional performing artist for sixteen years now. She is a proud mother to a child who is seven years old.

Theatre performance

She took part in a production dubbed Speakout about abuse for the NPA between 2007 and 2008. The performance was directed at Young School Children in Pretoria held at the Sheraton Hotel.

In 2008, she also had a performance in a corporate theater production “Ag Man Nee Man”. In 2010, she portrayed the mothering hippo in Jock of the Bushveld. The stage musical was held at Joburg Theatre.

Following this performance were several production roles at the National Children’s Theatre.

Siyasanga Papu “Pluz-size actress” revealed the challenges women like her have to face to be taken seriously in the entertainment industry. She is glad that gradually things are changing.

She shared with TshisaLIVE in an interview session that bigger girls are usually given the comedic roles. She further revealed that Gomora overlooked her size and gave her a role that matches her acting role.

The actress has been in the industry for fifteen years after kicking off her career in 2005. She is also a singer, writer, painter, and sketch artist.

She has made a name for herself in the industry and boasts of being among the few Mzansi women representing those who have earlier been excluded on television.

Career

She was cast on Usindiso, an SABC1 drama series, and also on Generations; The Legacy, a South African soapie.

Siyasanga played two different characters in each season of the SABC2 medical drama Hillside. She also appeared on the e.tv soap opera Rhythm City and season two of Saint and Sinners, a Mzansi drama series.

Siyasanga landed the recurring role of Fezeka on season six of Isibaya, an Mzansi Magic soap opera. She made her debut appearance on 3 December 2018 in season 6, episode 191. 

She also landed the role of Nomathemba on The Herd, an Mzansi Magic supernatural drama series.
