Kyle Turner was born on February 20, 1992, in South Sydney, Australia. He was raised by his parents, Col Turner and Leanne Turner, and had two siblings, Emily and Christopher.
Kyle completed a DPhil in Population Health at Jesus College, Oxford. Ethnically, Kyle is of Kamilaroi descent and his religious affiliation is Christianity.
Career
Turner made his NRL debut for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2014, playing off the interchange bench. That year, he scored his first NRL try and played in the Rabbitohs’ 2014 NRL Grand Final win over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
In 2015, Turner was sidelined for much of the season due to a serious neck injury while playing for the Indigenous All-Stars. He returned mid-season and made 6 appearances for the Rabbitohs.
Turner continued to be a regular member of the Rabbitohs’ squad over the next few seasons, making 23 appearances in 2016 and 21 in 2017. He was selected to play for Country NSW in the last City vs Country match in 2017.
In 2018, Turner only made 1 NRL appearance for the Rabbitohs, spending most of the season in the reserve grade North Sydney Bears team. However, he returned to the Rabbitohs’ first-grade squad in 2019 under new coach Wayne Bennett, making 16 appearances.
After the 2019 season, it was revealed that the Rabbitohs were releasing Turner due to salary cap constraints.
