Kaizer Chiefs target new midfield reinforcement, according to Soccer Laduma.

Chiefs are actively scouting players to strengthen their squad, and one of their latest targets is Stellenbosch FC’s 29-year-old defensive midfielder, Sihle Nduli. Chiefs have been monitoring Nduli’s performances closely and see him as a potential addition to their midfield.

Sources close to Chiefs confirm that the club has been tracking Nduli for some time, though the interest has not been widely publicised. Chiefs’ scouts believe Nduli could add the balance and defensive solidity they need in the middle of the park.

“The interest in Nduli has been there for some time but maybe it was not in the open because there were other players at the same club that Chiefs were looking at as they didn’t want to mix things up,” said a source close to the club. However, as Chiefs’ pursuit of other targets falters, Nduli has emerged as a key focus for the club.

Why Nduli could be the answer

With the possibility of losing key players like Njabulo Blom and Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Chiefs have identified Nduli as a defensive midfielder who could fill that gap. The source explained, “Since it’s believed that they could not get those other players, they are looking at how to work with Stellenbosch FC and see if they can get Nduli. They are considering him for the future if they don’t keep Blom and Mthethwa.”

Nduli’s strength in breaking up opposition attacks and his ability to shield the defence could make him a vital asset for Chiefs as they look to improve their midfield stability.

No formal talks yet from either camp

Although Chiefs have shown interest, no formal discussions have taken place yet. “It’s not like there are talks going on yet after the recommendation from their scouts and recruiters. So, we have to wait for Chiefs to make the official approach to Stellies,” the source said.

For now, Nduli remains a target, but no official move has been made. The 29-year-old former TS Galaxy midfielder has impressed with his consistency at Stellenbosch. And continues to be regarded as one of the top defensive midfielders in South Africa.

When will Chiefs move for Nduli?

It’s likely that Chiefs will make their move for Nduli in the summer of 2025 rather than in the January transfer window. “It is more likely Chiefs could move for the player next season than in January. Unless they lose another central midfielder before then,” the source added.

With Kaizer Chiefs focused on bolstering their midfield. Sihle Nduli is a strong candidate to join the squad for the 2025 season. His defensive qualities and solid form at Stellenbosch make him a promising addition. But it remains to be seen when Chiefs will make their move. Fans will be eager to see if Nduli can become the midfield reinforcement Amakhosi need.
