Plot
The South African telenovela follows the story of Gabriel, a heroic son. He was born into a dysfunctional family and search for the strength within himself to rebel against a powerful and evil matriarch.
The powerful woman would take out any obstacle on her way to achieving her needs. Set in the township of Vosloorus, also talks about the character Mary Ndlovu, played by Nthati Moshesh.
She has won the heart of her community with her good works that they address her as Mother Mary.
Little did they know that Mary is a wolf in sheep clothing. She pretends to care for unwanted delinquent children. Mary takes them in and caters for them in House of Grace, in Vosloorus, East Rand, Johannesburg.
Yet, behind the deceptive countenance, she is a cold-hearted criminal. She engages in vicious crimes including murder, fraud, children trafficking.
She sees herself to be untouchable.
Even with all that, she tries to outrun a traumatic experience in the past and believes that the past has been buried forever.
She is a staunch Christian and narcissist to the core, still, Mary is involved in money laundering through the church. She is the mother of talented Esther, played by Didintle Khunou. Apart from her biological daughter, she adopted two more.
Her adopted son Simon, played by TK Sebothoma, is also talented, devoted, and troubled. Mary’s favorite son Gabriel, played by Bohang Moeko, is resourceful, brooding, and damaged.
