Hayao Miyazaki was born on 5 January 1941 in Tokyo City to his parents Katsuji Miyazaki and Yoshiko Miyazaki.
He grew up with three siblings, Yutaka Miyazaki, Arita Miyazaki and Shirou Miyazaki.
Miyazaki attended Toyotama High School and later graduated from Gakushuin University with degrees in political science and economics.

Hayao Miyazaki began his career in animation in 1963 after graduating from Gakushuin University.
He started working at Toei Animation, contributing to various projects, including the 1968 film The Great Adventure of Horus and Prince of the Sun.
His directorial debut came with The Castle of Cagliostro in 1979, a film that quickly established him as a rising star in Japanese animation.
