WOW: Forgotten star set to sign for Orlando Pirates in January!
Orlando Pirates are ready to reinforce their squad in the upcoming January transfer window with deals thought to be imminent.
Pirates are believed to have beaten their arch rivals Kaizer Chiefs to two targets already with another on the way.
Pirates set to beat Chiefs to Appollis and Matuludi
According to multiple reports, Pirates are set to seal an impressive double swoop of Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi. The Polokwane City duo were profusely linked to Chiefs in the winter, and there was talk of that interest being reignited. Earlier this week, there have been loud murmurs of them choosing the black and white side of Soweto instead, with a move to the Buccaneers pending.
Pirates are reportedly not about to stop their signing spree there, however. Recently they surprised most by having former Chippa United midfielder Siphelele Luthuli a trial. The 29-year-old has been clubless since being released by the Eastern Cape-based side at the beginning of the season. Now according to KickOff.com the player has impressed at the Sea Robbers and is set to be signed!
“Luthuli is still training with Pirates. He is a good player. He has done well so far. It looks like the club is preparing to sign him in January,” said a source close to the club, to the same publication.
Buccaneers to sign Luthuli next?
Should it end up being a situation where Luthuli signs for Pirates, it could be the best revival of a career in recent times. He was released by Chippa at the start of the current season and has been clubless since. During his career, he has played 109 games in all competitions and has 19 goal contribution. He mainly plays as an attacking midfielder, with the ability to play deep. He also has eight caps for the SA U20 side.
