Ardavan Farhad Moshiri, the renowned British-Iranian businessman, was born on May 18, 1955, in the Imperial State of Iran. His parents, Majid Moshiri and Mahnaz Moshiri, raised him.
His father, Majid (1926–2020), was an army doctor who trained as a pathologist and later became a senior military judge. His mother’s family owned Iran’s leading publishing house, Kayhan.
Moshiri studied economics and statistics at University College London and subsequently qualified as a chartered certified accountant in the UK. Career
Alisher Moshiri had a career in professional services firms, working at Ernst & Young, Pannell Kerr Forster, and Deloitte & Touche in senior roles. Between 1993 and 2006, he was Executive Director of GNE Group plc and then CEO of Europe Steel Limited from 2000 to 2008.
He later served as Chairman of Metalloinvest from 2006-2013 and then USM Holdings until 2022. Moshiri and his business partner Alisher Usmanov co-owned Red & White Holdings, which acquired a significant stake in Arsenal Football Club between 2007-2012, reaching at least 29.72% ownership.
Though they stated they did not intend to make a total takeover bid, their increased shareholding suggested an interest in greater involvement with the club. In 2016, Moshiri sold his Arsenal stake to Usmanov to raise capital to launch a takeover of Everton Football Club.
This was completed in February 2016, when Moshiri acquired a 49.9% stake in Everton, which was later increased to 94% as of January 2022.
