She was born Asavela Mngqithi on 4 June 1996 in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. Her father, Manqoba Mngqithi, is a big name and popular figure in the world of sports. He is a well-known coach in a popular football club in the country.
She spent most of her childhood days in a town in the South of Durban called Lamontville.
