Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi Biography
Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi CON (born January 10, 1967) is a Nigerian veterinary surgeon and politician who now serves as Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security. From 2015 to 2023, he was the senator for Niger North Senatorial District in the 8th and 9th National Assembly. He was the deputy chief whip of the ninth National Assembly.

Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, CON, was the Chairman of the Niger State Caucus and the Deputy Chief Whip for the Niger North Senatorial District in the 8th and 9th Senates.
As the Senate’s Spokesman and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, he accomplished a remarkable feat for a first-term senator in the 8th Senate.
He sponsored more than 100 legislation and motions, including the Federal University of Education Bill, 2020, which was signed into law in December 2021, and was a fervent supporter of education and the development of human capital.
Abdullahi has obtained several managerial certifications and graduated from ABU-Zaria with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
In October 2022, he received the national title of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), and on August 21, 2023, President Bola Tinubu named him Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security.
Political Career
Abdullahi was declared the winner of the Niger North Senatorial District Election held on March 28, 2015.
He received 161,420 votes in the February 2019 Niger North Senatorial District election, while Hon. Muhammad Sani Duba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 77,109 votes.
