Era Istrefi was born on July 4, 1994, in Pristina, FR Yugoslavia, to Nezir Istrefi, a journalist, and Suzana Tahirsylaj, a musician active during the 1980s and 1990s. Her father, Nezir Istrefi, passed away in 2004, and her mother took a break from her musical career following his death.
