Mona Ali Mohamed Zaki was born on November 18, 1976, in Cairo, Egypt. She is the daughter of Ali Mohamed, a university professor with several international roles, and Tahini Zaki. Mona has two brothers, Mustafa Zaki and Mohamed Zaki.
She attended Heritage Academy in Louisiana, USA, for a two-year program. After returning to Cairo in 1993, she briefly studied at the Institute of Dramatic Arts before enrolling at the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University. Mona is of Egyptian ethnicity and practices Islam.

Mona Zaki began her acting career at just 16 years old when she appeared in the play Bel Araby Elfaseh, directed by Mohamed Sobhy. After her role in the play, she made her TV debut in the 1994 Ramadan series El A’elah (The Family) while still a student at Cairo University.
Throughout the 90s, she starred in several popular TV series, including Layali el Helmiyyah 5, Zizinia, and El Daw’ El Sharid, gaining significant recognition.
