Taylor Swift‘s spectacular ‘Eras Tour’ came to an end on 8 December with a final show in Vancouver. The US superstar delivered a particularly emotional evening in Canada.
Swifties from all over the world flocked to BC Place in Vancouver, Canada, on the weekend for the last three shows of Taylor Swift’s (34) almost two-year ‘Eras Tour,’ which took her through 19 countries. She gave the last show on Sunday evening (8 December).
According to the Vancouver Sun, the ‘Eras Tour’ officially ended at 11.16pm local time. This marks the end of a piece of music history. Taylor Swift has set new standards with her world tour, and the new interface of the sports betting website has also set a new standard.
In the end, the singer gave her fans a particularly emotional evening. She told her audience during the show that she had performed in front of more than 10 million people during the tour, as reported by CNN. The fans made the tour ‘something I’ve never done in my life’ with their traditions, passion, and the way this tour is close to their hearts. That is probably the ‘lasting legacy of this tour … that you have created such a space of joy, togetherness, and love,’ she said to the audience.
For the part of the show where the 34-year-old sings songs not on the evening’s setlist, she chose five soulful songs that said, ‘summarise how I’m feeling tonight.’ Her selections included ‘A Place in This World’ from her eponymous debut album, ‘New Romantics’ from ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’, ‘Long Live’ from ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’, ‘New Year’s Day’ from ‘Reputation’ and ‘The Manuscript’ from ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’ In the end, Swift hugged the members of her team.
On tour since March 2023
Taylor Swift announced the ‘Eras Tour’ after her tenth album ‘Midnights’ was released in 2022. It was her first tour since 2018 and kicked off in March 2023 in Glendale, Arizona. The demand for the three-hour shows was huge. With a setlist of 44 songs, Swift took the concerts on a journey through time and played songs from every album she had released throughout her 18-year career. During the tour, Swift released three more albums – ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ and two re-recorded ‘Taylor’s Version’ releases.
Taylor Swift’s tour created special moments around the globe, with the loudly cheering fans sometimes even causing earthquakes. Numerous stars wanted to attend the event too – above all, Prince William (42) came to the opening concert in London and posed for a legendary selfie with Swift and two of his children. Her boyfriend Travis Kelce (35) not only cheered for his sweetheart from the audience at several shows. He surprised everyone with a performance on stage at London’s Wembley Stadium in July 2024. The tour also resulted in the successful concert film ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,’ released in cinemas in October 2023 and grossed around 96 million dollars on its opening weekend in the USA and Canada.
Highest-grossing tour of all time?
Official figures on the box office takings of the ‘Eras Tour’ have not yet been published. However, according to CNN, it is estimated to bring in more than 2 billion US dollars, making it the highest-grossing tour of all time. The current record holder is Elton John (77), whose ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour’ grossed more than 900 million dollars.
Concert series triggers ‘Taylor-gating’
Other heads of state, such as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Chilean President Gabriel Boric, even asked Swift personally to perform in their country. Trudeau wrote on X (formerly Twitter) about Swift’s song ‘Anti-Hero’: ‘It’s me, hello. I know there are places in Canada that would love to have you. So don’t make it another cruel summer. We hope to see you soon.
Of course, this was not without ulterior motives. Many fans traveled, especially to the Swift concerts, and hotel stays, restaurant visits, and other expenses boosted the local economy.
At the start of Taylor Swift’s German concerts, Gelsenkirchen was also transformed into a glittering all-American-girl party zone.

In addition to the economic benefits, the ‘Eras Tour’ has also given rise to phenomena such as ‘Taylor-gating.’ Fans without tickets gathered near the venues to sing together, celebrate, and swap friendship bracelets.
Grammy winner Taylor Swift breaks several records at once
But Taylor Swift was also busy outside of the concerts. During the concert series, she recorded a new album with 31 songs, released two ‘Taylor’s Version’ albums, two music videos, and a book about her tour.
In July, the multiple Grammy winner caused a sensation with several records: She became the first woman in music history to make it into the top ten US album charts with four of her albums. As the industry service ‘Billboard’ reported, her newly recorded album ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ reached first place in the US album charts. Swift achieved the best start for an album this year and broke Barbara Streisand’s record. Streisand previously held the record for the most number of albums among female artists, with eleven albums. With ‘Speak Now,’ Swift achieved her twelfth number-one album.
