Kaizer Chiefs are struggling to secure a striker, which means they’re being forced to turn down tempting offers for their existing players.

Chiefs can’t accept good offers for Du Preez, yet

According to Soccer-Laduma, Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes made an offer in the region of €2m (R40 million) for Ashley Du Preez. However, Chiefs can’t entertain offers for the former Stellies man before they sign suitable attacking replacements. The same publication believes Chiefs are willing to sell Du Preez at the right price and are biding their time.

“There was a strong desire to see him move to Europe, but the lack of a replacement has complicated matters. An offer of R40 million was reportedly on the table, which could have facilitated the signing of several quality strikers. However, without a guarantee of securing those targets, the move was halted. This has been a significant stumbling block. The interest was genuine, and it’s unfortunate that the deal didn’t materialize for both the club (Chiefs) and Du Preez. Nevertheless, there is still hope for a potential move in January,” said a source.

Vilakazi could miss crunch clashes

18-year-old Mfundo Vilakazi, who scored the winner for Chiefs in their opening day 2-1 win over Gallants, has been included in the South African U20 Men’s national team before of the Cosafa Cup. These commitments could see him miss upcoming assignments against AmaZulu and Sundowns.

“Although some clubs failed to release the players we requested for this important tournament, I believe we have selected a strong quality squad and will be able to achieve our objectives,” Amajita coach Raymond Mdaka said.
