Orlando Pirates forward attracts European interest as the club eyes potential transfer, according to Soccer Laduma.
Pirates striker Evidence Makgopa is generating significant buzz in Europe, with growing interest from European clubs. Before Makgopa joined Pirates from Baroka FC two seasons ago, he had a formal offer from Denmark. Although the move didn’t materialise at the time, the lanky striker signed with the Soweto giants.
Despite a slow start at Pirates, Evidence Makgopa has proven his value on the field, both for the Buccaneers and Bafana Bafana, where he played a crucial role in their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign. His impressive performances have attracted continued interest from Europe. Recent reports indicate that an unnamed Danish club has shown interest in Makgopa. While the club has yet to make a formal approach to Orlando Pirates, they are expected to do so in the near future.
Potential move to Europe for Makgopa: What’s next?
Although a move to Europe didn’t materialize for Makgopa previously, it remains a possibility if the Danish club finalizes terms with Pirates. The interest from Europe signals a promising opportunity for Makgopa to advance his career on a larger stage.
Kaizer Chiefs’ striker search: Gabadinho Mhango speculation
In other transfer news, Kaizer Chiefs are actively searching for a seasoned striker as the new season approaches. Malawian international Gabadinho Mhango, currently with Marumo Gallants, has been a long-standing target for Chiefs. Recent speculation arose when Mike Makaab hinted at a striker being discussed with Chiefs, leading to media and fan speculation about Mhango. However, Makaab, who represents Mhango, clarified that the striker offered to Chiefs is not Mhango. “Yes, there is a striker that we have offered to Chiefs, but that striker is not Mhango. There is no interest from Chiefs in Mhango,” Makaab stated.
Despite Makaab’s denial of current interest from Chiefs, Gabadinho Mhango’s future remains uncertain. A source close to Mhango revealed that he could still leave Marumo Gallants. “The way things stand now, Gaba (Mhango) can still leave Marumo. He has one year remaining on his contract, but if a good buyer comes through, they might let him go,” the source disclosed. Mhango’s potential departure is partly influenced by his high salary from his previous contract with Moroka Swallows. Marumo Gallants might consider selling him to alleviate their salary expenses.
As European clubs show interest in Evidence Makgopa, a potential transfer could be on the horizon for the talented forward. Meanwhile, Gabadinho Mhango’s future remains in flux, with Marumo Gallants open to offers that could lead to his departure.
