There will be no driver debuts when the 2024 F1 season gets underway in Bahrain on 2 March 2024.
A notable change to the grid sees Alfa Romeo renamed Stake F1 but every driver on the grid was in place for the 2023 season.
What’s new in F1 in 2024
In terms of Livery, Stake F1’s addition brightens up the grid but their look might struggle to win fans over.
While the car will look very different their drivers remain in place with both Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu returning.
Another name change sees Alpha Tauri become Visa Cash App RB. They will be hoping for a genuine push towards the front of the grid. Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo are the team backed to achieve that.
The end of an era
Lewis Hamilton will finish up with Mercedes after the 2024 campaign after it was announced that he would join Ferrari. His teammate George Russell remains commited to the team until 2025.
Hamilton’s move could have a domino effect as drivers are moved around to fill gaps.
Red Bull are F1 favourites for 2024. Backed up by strong testing, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen is out to complete a fourth successive F1 world championship win. Sergio Perez is likely to be Verstappen’s stiffest competition.
At Ferrari the Tifosi prepare for Carlos Sainz Jr’s swan song. Hamilton will supplant Sainz at Ferrari in 2025. Charles Leclerc will remain at the team until beyond 2026.
Familiar combinations dot the grid, but some have questioned the sameness of this season.
Bahrain starts the season and will give an indication of how competitive this season will be.
Supersport will broadcast F1 in South Africa in 2024.
