Dricus du Plessis has had the last laugh after Drake waged a small fortune on him to lose his UFC 297 fight against Sean Strickland.

The Pretoria-born fighter – who was named the new world champion after his defeat on Sunday morning, South African time – blasted the US rapper’s hit song after exiting the octagon.

Du Plessis walked away with a $1 million prize money after his win.

DRICUS SHOWS DRAKE THE MIDDLE FINGER?

In clips circulating on social media, Dricus du Plessis is seen leaving the octagon at Scotiabank Arena in Canada to the theme song of Drake’s 2018 hit single, God’s Plan.

And many think it was a middle finger gesture to the Grammy-winning artist

According to MailOnline, Drake lost $700 000 (R13 million) after betting on Dricus to lose his fight against Sean Strickland.

The fight – which took place in Drake’s home country of Canada – was attended by the Grammy-award-winning star himself.

Just hours earlier, Drake shared a look at this betting slip – which had a $700 000 wager on Strickland winning. He captioned the post: “’And we’re going to fight night,” while tagging UFC president Dana White.

THE DRAKE CURSE?

Meanwhile, social media users are convinced that Drake’s “curse” has returned.

Last September, Drake lost a substantial amount of cash after he waged money on fellow UFC fighter Israel Adesanya to beat Strickland.

Drake then lost another big payday after backing Adesanya to beat Brazilian Alex Pereira in October.

A few months later, Drake lost another bet when his favourite Leon Edwards lost to  Colby Covington at UFC 296 in December.
